Kia Adds Cheaper Automatic Carens Clavis Variants in India

Kia India adds three automatic Carens Clavis trims, with turbo-petrol DCT from Rs 14.67 lakh and a new diesel automatic at Rs 15.82 lakh.

Kia India has broadened the Carens Clavis internal-combustion range with three fresh automatic trims, placing both the turbo-petrol dual-clutch gearbox and the diesel automatic within reach of buyers shopping lower down the lineup. The new options sit on the HTE (EX) and HTE (O) grades, and pricing opens at Rs 14.67 lakh ex-showroom.

The additions were confirmed in September 2026 and mark a shift in how the company packages its automatic drivetrains, which previously demanded a step up to costlier grades. The move follows another Carens Clavis announcement made a day earlier, when Kia introduced a 15-year, unlimited-kilometre warranty covering the high-voltage battery for the first owners of eligible Carens Clavis electric models.

Turbo-Petrol DCT From Rs 14.67 Lakh

The headline change is the arrival of the 1.5-litre turbo-petrol unit paired with a dual-clutch transmission on the entry grades. Until now, that engine and gearbox pairing was reserved for higher trims, forcing keen buyers to spend more to get it.

The Carens Clavis HTE (O) 1.5 Turbo-Petrol DCT carries a sticker of Rs 14,66,900, the lowest of the three new automatic trims. The HTE (EX) offers the identical turbo-petrol DCT setup but is listed at Rs 15,21,900. That leaves the HTE (EX) priced Rs 55,000 above the HTE (O) despite sharing the same drivetrain. The HTE (EX) grade itself made its debut in January this year.

Diesel Automatic Joins HTE (O)

Kia has opened up its diesel automatic in parallel. The Carens Clavis HTE (O) fitted with the 1.5-litre diesel and an automatic gearbox is priced at Rs 15,81,900. As a result, shoppers with a budget around Rs 15 lakh can now pick between a turbo-petrol DCT and a diesel automatic without climbing into the pricier grades.

Every one of the three new trims also ships with what the company labels the Automatic Pack. The bundle brings a Smart Key with Motion Sensor, Push-Button Start, Drive Modes, an Electronic Parking Brake and Remote Engine Start.

Where the New Trims Sit in the Range

The Carens Clavis petrol lineup begins at Rs 11.39 lakh for the HTE and climbs to Rs 21.79 lakh for the GTX Plus and X-Line. After the latest revision, the HTE (O) band reaches up to Rs 14.67 lakh once the new turbo-petrol DCT is factored in, while the HTE (EX) tops out at Rs 15.22 lakh.

Above those grades, the petrol range spans the HTK Plus from Rs 16.85 lakh, the HTK Plus (O) from Rs 16.42 lakh, the HTX (O) at Rs 19.62 lakh and the GTX at Rs 20 lakh. The HTX Plus runs from Rs 19.04 lakh to Rs 21.07 lakh.

On the diesel side, the HTE (O) now stretches from Rs 14.37 lakh to Rs 15.82 lakh, with the freshly added diesel automatic occupying the top of that band. The HTE EX diesel is set at Rs 14.88 lakh. Further up, the HTK Plus, HTK Plus (O) and HTX diesel variants are priced at Rs 16.44 lakh, Rs 17.22 lakh and Rs 19.01 lakh in that order.

With the update, Kia has folded automatic drivetrains into the more affordable end of the Carens Clavis family, widening the choice for buyers who want either the turbo-petrol DCT or the diesel automatic without leaving the lower grades.
