Adv. K. P. Gopakumar, the hero of Thiranottam, Mohanlal’s first acted film, has passed away at 73. A resident of Punnapuram in Thiruvananthapuram, he was known both as an actor and a practicing lawyer involved in social work. Though Thiranottam—directed by V. Ashok Kumar and produced by Pachalloor Sasi—never received a proper theatrical release, it remains notable for introducing Mohanlal at age 18. Gopakumar later stepped away from cinema and focused on public service. He is survived by his wife and daughter. The cremation will be held at 2.30 PM at Shanthikavadam, Thycaud.*
