Trump Hosts Major AI and Technology Leaders

U.S. President Donald Trump brought together some of America’s most influential technology and artificial intelligence leaders at the White House on September 29, 2026, for a high-profile discussion on the future of AI.

The gathering had 31 confirmed attendees, including technology executives and senior U.S. government officials.

Among the prominent technology leaders were Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang, Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg, Google CEO Sundar Pichai, Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, AMD CEO Lisa Su, Broadcom CEO Hock Tan, Palantir CEO Alex Karp and Palo Alto Networks CEO Nikesh Arora. Elon Musk and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos were also among the attendees. OpenAI was represented by President Greg Brockman, as CEO Sam Altman was attending the company's conference in San Francisco.

Why Did Trump Call the Meeting?

The central discussion focused on AI safety, innovation, self-regulation and the rapid expansion of AI infrastructure.

Trump backed a voluntary agreement under which participating technology companies would strengthen internal AI controls and work with independent auditors. The agreement is not a legally binding federal regulation.

The meeting also highlighted the growing demand for AI data centers and computing infrastructure. Trump has supported expanding these facilities as the United States competes internationally in advanced technology, particularly with China.

Why It Matters

The gathering shows how artificial intelligence has become a major U.S. economic and strategic issue involving technology, cybersecurity, energy, investment and national competitiveness.

With leading companies developing AI models, chips, cloud infrastructure and data centers, decisions made by Washington and the technology industry could influence how quickly AI develops—and how it is governed—in the United States.
