Iran, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan Hold Regional Security Talks in Tehran

TEHRAN, October 26, 2026: Senior officials from Iran, Saudi Arabia, Türkiye and Pakistan met in Tehran on Monday for talks on regional security, cooperation and developments affecting Palestine and Lebanon.

The meeting brought together Iran’s Supreme National Security Council Secretary Mohsen Rezaei, Saudi Defence Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman, Pakistan’s Army Chief Field Marshal Asim Munir and Türkiye’s intelligence chief Ibrahim Kalın. Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian and Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi also attended, according to reports.

Iranian officials presented the discussions as an effort to strengthen regional security through cooperation among countries in West Asia, rather than relying primarily on external powers. The agenda included regional tensions, developments involving Israel, and the situations in Palestine and Lebanon.

The meeting also carried diplomatic significance because it brought senior Saudi, Turkish and Pakistani officials to Tehran at a time of heightened regional tensions. The discussions offered an opportunity for the countries to exchange views on security challenges and explore areas of cooperation.

Following the talks, the four countries agreed to continue dialogue aimed at strengthening cooperation on regional issues, including peace and security. However, the meeting should not yet be interpreted as proof that the countries have established a new regional alliance or agreed on every major political issue.

Questions remain about how far the participants can translate diplomatic discussions into practical arrangements, particularly given their differing security priorities and relationships with other regional and international powers.

The Tehran meeting is therefore a notable diplomatic development, but its longer-term significance will depend on subsequent discussions, concrete agreements and whether cooperation continues.
