New Kia Sorento Lands In Indian Showrooms, Launches Today

Kia's premium three-row Sorento SUV has reached Indian dealers ahead of its September 4 launch, offering diesel and hybrid powertrains across three trims.

Kia's new Sorento has begun landing at dealer showrooms across India, with the carmaker set to hold the official launch on September 4. The premium three-row SUV pushes Kia into a higher price bracket than any of its current India models, and buyers will get a choice of diesel or strong-hybrid power.

The Sorento stretches 4,815 mm in length, 1,900 mm in width and 1,785 mm in height, riding on a 2,815 mm wheelbase. Depending on the variant chosen, it can be had as either a six- or seven-seater. Kia is fielding three core trims - HTE, HTK and HTX - with all-wheel drive fitted as standard only on the top HTX.

Diesel And Hybrid Options

The diesel unit is a 2.2-litre engine rated at 193 PS and 442 Nm. The alternative is a 1.6-litre strong hybrid that pairs a 180 PS petrol engine with a 65 PS electric motor, delivering a combined peak torque of 265 Nm.

Equipment climbs sharply as buyers move up the range. The entry HTE ships with a 12.3-inch touchscreen and a 4-inch instrument cluster, a 10-way powered driver's seat, 18-inch alloys, eight parking sensors, a rear-view camera and seven airbags. A Convenience Pack layers on a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate, ventilated front seats and an 8-way powered front passenger seat.

HTK And HTX Kit

Step up to the HTK and the cabin gains twin 12.3-inch displays, a 12-speaker Bose system, 19-inch alloys, 12 parking sensors, surround-view and blind-spot monitors, and Kia Connect 2.0 with over-the-air updates. It also brings four-cube projector headlamps, ambient lighting and, as an option, a 21-feature ADAS package.

The flagship HTX adds front relaxation seats, an Ergo Motion driver's seat, Digital Key 2.0, a Gen AI voice assistant, second-row ventilation, a head-up display, a digital inside mirror, remote smart parking and front and rear dashcams. Safety climbs to 10 airbags and a 30-feature ADAS suite, alongside the standard all-wheel drive with terrain modes.

Other touches spread across the line-up include a shift-by-wire rotary gear selector, navigation-linked adaptive cruise, a 220V inverter, ISOFIX anchors for the second and third rows, remote second-row seat folding and a hands-free powered tailgate.

With cars already reaching dealerships, Kia will confirm prices and the full variant breakdown at the launch event. The Sorento will slot in above the brand's existing mainstream SUV and MPV range in India.
