A historical photograph circulating online is said to show Mir Osman Ali Khan, the seventh and last Nizam of Hyderabad, visiting the Vazir Sultan Tobacco (VST) facility in 1933 while smoking a Charminar cigarette.

Mir Osman Ali Khan ruled the erstwhile Hyderabad State from 1911 until its integration into India in 1948. Known for his immense wealth and influence, he also presided over a period in which Hyderabad developed several industries and institutions.

Charminar cigarettes were associated with Hyderabad's industrial history. Vazir Sultan Tobacco Company was established as a public limited company in 1930, and its Charminar brand became closely linked with the city.

Historical accounts report that the Nizam smoked specially rolled Charminar cigarettes, reportedly as a way of supporting local industry. The brand took its name from Hyderabad's iconic Charminar monument.

Although the story connects the Nizam, the cigarette brand and Hyderabad's industrial past, the precise date and location of the photograph described above have not been independently confirmed.

The image offers a glimpse into the history of Hyderabad during the final decades of princely rule, when local businesses and royal patronage played a role in the city's economic development.
