The Union government released more than ₹18,690 crore under the 24th instalment of the Pradhan Mantri Kisan Samman Nidhi (PM-KISAN) scheme on October 30, 2026.

According to the Ministry of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare, more than 9.34 crore eligible farmers received financial assistance through Direct Benefit Transfer.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi released the instalment during his visit to Banaskantha in Gujarat.

The payment is part of the government's income-support programme for eligible farmer families across India.

How much money do farmers receive?

Under PM-KISAN, eligible farmer families receive ₹6,000 annually in three instalments of ₹2,000 each.

The assistance is transferred directly into beneficiaries' bank accounts through the Direct Benefit Transfer system.

The scheme is intended to help farmers meet agricultural and household expenses. The financial support can contribute towards the purchase of seeds, fertilisers and other agricultural requirements, although it is not designed to cover the full cost of farming.

The 24th instalment represents another major transfer under a programme that has distributed more than ₹4.64 lakh crore cumulatively, according to the government's announcement.

Why e-KYC and eligibility checks matter

Farmers need to meet the scheme's eligibility requirements to receive payments. Aadhaar-based verification, bank-account linking and electronic know-your-customer procedures are among the measures used to identify eligible beneficiaries.

The government has also indicated that payments may be withheld in suspected cases involving ineligible beneficiaries or multiple claims within the same family until verification is completed.

Farmers who have not received the latest instalment should check their beneficiary status through the official PM-KISAN website rather than rely on unofficial messages or agents.

How to check payment status

Beneficiaries can visit the official PM-KISAN portal and use the available beneficiary-status services.

Farmers should verify their registered details and e-KYC status. They should never share bank passwords, OTPs or other confidential information with unknown callers claiming to release pending instalments.

The latest release is a significant direct financial transfer to millions of agricultural households. Its long-term impact will depend on timely payments, accurate beneficiary records and the scheme's ability to reach eligible farmers.
