– Dr. Gudaru Jagadesh, Director and Vice-Chancellor, SVIMS
Tirupati, October 10, 2026:
“Every patient who enters SVIMS should come with the confidence that they will receive the best possible medical treatment and return home with improved health, satisfaction, renewed hope and complete trust in our institution. This is the fundamental philosophy and ultimate objective of SVIMS,” stated Dr. Gudaru Jagadesh, Director and Vice-Chancellor of Sri Venkateswara Institute of Medical Sciences (SVIMS), Tirupati.
He emphasized that SVIMS, a prestigious tertiary-care and super-speciality medical institution functioning under the aegis of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD), remains firmly committed to making advanced, high-quality medical treatment accessible to economically disadvantaged and middle-class families.
Expressing immense satisfaction over the remarkable state-level progress achieved by SVIMS in implementing the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme, Dr. Jagadesh congratulated the medical specialists, NTR Vaidya Seva Department, nursing personnel, technical teams and administrative staff for their dedication and coordinated efforts.
“SVIMS is not merely a hospital. It is an institution of hope, healing and humanitarian service for thousands of families who cannot afford expensive medical treatment. Our responsibility extends beyond curing diseases. We must also protect patients and their families from the financial hardships associated with serious illness,” he stated.
Outstanding Medical Services During September – Healthcare Assurance to Thousands of Patients
Dr. Jagadesh informed that during September 2026, SVIMS provided medical treatment to 2,450 patients under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme, reflecting the institution’s extensive contribution to public healthcare.
He stated that the substantial number of claims processed under government-sponsored health schemes, the considerable value of medical services delivered and the financial concessions extended to economically weaker patients demonstrate the institution’s strong commitment to accessible and compassionate healthcare.
According to the hospital’s billing records for September 2026:
* ₹11.90 crore: Total value of medical treatment billed during the month.
* ₹8.56 crore: Approved package amount under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme.
* ₹3.32 crore: Financial concessions and discounts extended towards treatment expenditure exceeding the approved package limits.
* ₹2.10 crore: Financial assistance provided through the TTD Pranadanam Scheme.
* ₹1.21 crore: Additional treatment expenditure borne by SVIMS management.
Dr. Jagadesh observed that these figures represent not merely financial statistics but the institution’s humanitarian commitment to ensuring that vulnerable patients receive necessary treatment without being overwhelmed by medical expenses.
“When a poor person develops a serious illness, the suffering is not limited to the patient alone. The entire family experiences emotional distress, financial uncertainty and anxiety about the future. The fear of hospital expenditure can sometimes be greater than the fear of the disease itself. At SVIMS, we are determined to reduce this burden and provide patients with the confidence that quality medical care is within their reach,” he explained.
TTD Pranadanam Scheme – A Lifeline for Economically Disadvantaged Patients
Dr. Jagadesh highlighted the invaluable contribution of the Sri Venkateswara Pranadanam Scheme of Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams in extending financial assistance to eligible poor patients requiring complex, critical and high-cost medical treatment.
He explained that in certain cases, the treatment expenditure for complicated diseases and major procedures may exceed the approved package amount under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme.
In such situations, SVIMS strives to facilitate additional financial assistance through the TTD Pranadanam Scheme, subject to applicable eligibility criteria and regulations.
During September alone, financial support amounting to ₹2.10 crore was provided through the Pranadanam Scheme, while SVIMS management absorbed approximately ₹1.21 crore in additional treatment expenditure.
This reflects the institution’s commitment to protecting patients from excessive financial hardship while ensuring continuity of necessary medical treatment.
“Every human life is precious. At an institution functioning with the blessings of Lord Venkateswara, service to the suffering is a sacred responsibility. Our sincere endeavour is to ensure that no deserving patient is deprived of essential life-saving medical care merely because of financial limitations,” Dr. Jagadesh affirmed.
Compassionate Approach Towards Eligible Patients Awaiting Health Scheme Cards
The Director and Vice-Chancellor stated that the management had identified certain difficulties faced by patients seeking treatment under the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Medical Care arrangements (CMCO), particularly when their NTR Vaidya Seva beneficiary cards were temporarily unavailable or awaiting approval.
He instructed the concerned officials to adopt a patient-friendly and humanitarian approach in such circumstances.
Eligible patients should not face avoidable hardship merely because of pending administrative formalities. Their eligibility must be verified promptly, necessary approvals expedited and appropriate measures taken to avoid collecting advance payments wherever permitted under the applicable scheme guidelines.
He particularly emphasized that emergency medical care must receive the highest priority.
“When a patient comes to a hospital in distress, our first responsibility is to assess the medical condition and provide the necessary treatment. Administrative procedures should never become an unnecessary obstacle to compassionate medical care. Every patient must be treated with the same concern, respect and responsibility that we would extend to a member of our own family,” he directed.
He further instructed all departments to maintain close coordination with the NTR Vaidya Seva team to ensure that eligible beneficiaries receive the benefits of government health schemes without unnecessary delays.
Advanced Medical Expertise and Comprehensive Super-Speciality Services Under One Roof
Dr. Jagadesh stated that SVIMS has developed into a major tertiary-care and super-speciality referral institution, offering a broad spectrum of advanced medical and surgical services through experienced specialists and multidisciplinary teams.
The institution provides specialised services through departments including Cardiology, Cardiothoracic Surgery, Neurology, Neurosurgery, Nephrology, Urology, Medical Oncology, Surgical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, Surgical Gastroenterology, General Medicine, General Surgery and several other broad and super-speciality disciplines.
Advanced diagnostic services, complex surgical procedures, critical care, cancer treatment, cardiac interventions, neurological care and management of kidney-related diseases form important components of the institution’s comprehensive healthcare services.
He stated that the management is continuously working towards strengthening medical infrastructure, upgrading diagnostic and therapeutic facilities, improving coordination among departments and expanding access to specialised treatment.
“High-quality medical treatment should not remain the privilege of those who can afford expensive private healthcare. Public healthcare institutions must demonstrate that advanced technology, experienced medical specialists, evidence-based treatment and compassionate patient care can be brought together to deliver excellent medical services,” Dr. Jagadesh emphasized.
He directed all Heads of Departments to strengthen multidisciplinary clinical decision-making, promote evidence-based medical practices and ensure that every patient receives appropriate treatment based on individual clinical requirements.
He further stressed that clinical excellence must be accompanied by effective communication, patient counselling, transparency and respect for patients and their families.
Significant Progress Under NTR Vaidya Seva and Employees Health Scheme
Dr. Jagadesh informed that SVIMS continues to provide healthcare services not only to economically disadvantaged patients under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme but also to eligible government employees and their families through the Employees Health Scheme (EHS).
According to the claims uploaded during September 2026:
* 2,840 claims were uploaded under the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme.
* 142 claims were uploaded under the Employees Health Scheme.
* 2,982 claims were uploaded under both schemes together.
* ₹8,93,82,356 was the total recorded claim value.
He stated that the effective implementation of these schemes is essential to ensuring timely medical treatment and reducing the financial burden on patients.
The management is taking steps to strengthen the entire process, including patient registration, eligibility verification, pre-authorisation, package approvals, discharge documentation and claims submission.
“Government health schemes achieve their true purpose only when their benefits reach the deserving patient efficiently, transparently and without unnecessary hardship. Our objective is to ensure that every eligible beneficiary receives the full advantage of these schemes,” he stated.
Special Appreciation to the NTR Vaidya Seva Department and Medical Teams
Dr. Jagadesh expressed his appreciation to the NTR Vaidya Seva Department, medical specialists, Aarogyamithras, data entry operators, claims-processing personnel, nursing teams and administrative officials for their collective contribution to the successful implementation of government-sponsored healthcare schemes.
He observed that efficient coordination between clinical departments and the health scheme administration is essential for ensuring timely treatment and smooth patient discharge.
He instructed the concerned teams to maintain the highest standards of transparency, accountability, accuracy and efficiency in claims processing.
Special emphasis should be placed on reducing waiting periods, improving patient guidance, simplifying administrative procedures and providing clear information regarding scheme eligibility and benefits.
“The success of a hospital is not measured by the expertise of doctors alone. It is equally reflected in the behaviour of its staff, the efficiency of its systems, the compassion shown to patients and the confidence with which families approach the institution. Every employee of SVIMS has a role in building and preserving this trust,” he remarked.
Patients’ Trust Is the Greatest Strength of SVIMS
Dr. Jagadesh observed that the reputation of a medical institution cannot be measured merely by the number of buildings, hospital beds, medical equipment or specialised departments.
Its true distinction lies in the quality of treatment, professional competence, patient safety, ethical medical practices, compassionate service and the trust it earns from society.
He stated that SVIMS management is placing special emphasis on improving patient safety, clinical outcomes, hospital hygiene, emergency preparedness, timely services, staff accountability and effective grievance redressal.
All departments have been instructed to adopt a patient-centred approach and continuously review their clinical and administrative performance.
“Public trust is the most valuable asset of any medical institution. Earning that trust is an achievement, but preserving it through consistent quality, ethical practice and compassionate care is an even greater responsibility. Every patient who comes to SVIMS must feel confident that their health and well-being are our foremost priorities,” he emphasized.
He further stated that continuous improvement in clinical standards, teaching, research and patient care would remain central to the institution’s future development.
A Message of Confidence to Poor and Middle-Class Families
Dr. Jagadesh appealed to people from Tirupati, Chittoor, Annamayya, YSR Kadapa, Nellore and other districts of Andhra Pradesh to make use of the specialised medical services available at SVIMS.
He encouraged eligible patients to obtain information regarding the Dr. NTR Vaidya Seva Scheme, TTD Pranadanam Scheme and other applicable healthcare assistance programmes.
Families concerned about the cost of specialised medical treatment should approach SVIMS to understand the available clinical services, treatment options and financial assistance mechanisms.
He reiterated that the institution remains committed to providing quality medical care with dignity, compassion and respect to patients from all sections of society.
“Your health is our responsibility. Your trust is our strength. Providing quality medical treatment is our duty. Whether a patient belongs to a poor family, a middle-class household or is facing severe financial hardship, our commitment is to treat every individual with dignity and provide the best possible medical care within the resources and facilities available,” Dr. Jagadesh assured.
Excellence in Treatment, Transparency in Administration and Humanity in Service
Outlining the future priorities of SVIMS, Dr. Jagadesh stated that the institution would continue to strengthen its medical services through systematic improvements in infrastructure, technology, clinical expertise, teaching and research.
The management intends to focus on expanding advanced diagnostic and therapeutic capabilities, strengthening multidisciplinary treatment, improving patient experience, enhancing emergency and critical care services and ensuring efficient implementation of government healthcare schemes.
He emphasized that medical education, clinical research and patient care must progress together.
“Our objective is not merely to treat a larger number of patients. Our true mission is to ensure that every patient receives the right treatment, from the right specialist, at the right time, with the highest possible standards of safety, professional competence and compassion. There can be no compromise on patient safety or the quality of medical care,” he declared.
He called upon every doctor, nurse, technician and administrative employee to consider patient welfare as a shared institutional responsibility.
Saving Lives Is Our Mission – Serving Humanity Is Our Commitment
Concluding his remarks, Dr. Jagadesh delivered a heartfelt message highlighting the humanitarian philosophy of SVIMS.
“When a poor patient returns home after successful treatment, the happiness and relief reflected on the faces of family members are the greatest rewards for our medical profession. Saving one life means protecting the hopes, dreams and future of an entire family. Being able to serve thousands of such families is both a privilege and a sacred responsibility.”
“Every patient who enters SVIMS places their trust in our institution. We must honour that trust through professional excellence, compassionate treatment, ethical medical practice and every possible effort to reduce financial hardship.”
“We want SVIMS to be recognised not merely as a centre for advanced medical treatment, but as an institution where medical excellence meets humanity, where every patient is treated with dignity and where the poor and vulnerable find renewed hope for life.”
“The trust of the people is our greatest strength. The health and well-being of our patients are our highest priorities. Excellence in healthcare, compassion in service and commitment to humanity will continue to guide every step of our journey,” Dr. Gudaru Jagadesh concluded.
