Telangana Express Completes 50 Years of Service Between Hyderabad and Delhi

HYDERABAD — The Telangana Express has completed five decades of service, marking 50 years since the train was introduced in 1976.

The train was originally launched as the Andhra Pradesh Express on October 3, 1976, and subsequently became known as the Telangana Express. It connects Hyderabad with New Delhi and has served passengers travelling between the Telugu region and the national capital for decades.

Over the years, the service has become familiar to generations of passengers travelling for education, employment, business, government work and tourism.

The train's five-decade journey also reflects changes in India's railway network and the evolution of long-distance passenger travel.

For Hyderabad and Telangana, the service remains an important rail link with the national capital.

The anniversary provides an opportunity to look back at the role long-distance trains have played in connecting southern India with northern parts of the country.
