Telangana Begins Work on Comprehensive Child Online Safety Framework

HYDERABAD — Telangana has initiated steps toward developing a comprehensive framework aimed at strengthening online safety protections for children.

Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy directed officials on October 3 to prepare the framework in consultation with the Telangana High Court and the Telangana State Legal Services Authority.

The proposed framework is expected to focus on protecting children from cybercrime and improving access to legal and support mechanisms when young people face problems online.

Children increasingly use smartphones, social media platforms, online games and educational services, creating new challenges involving privacy, cyberbullying, online exploitation and other forms of digital harm.

A coordinated framework could bring together government agencies, legal institutions, educational organisations and child-protection stakeholders.

The initiative was discussed alongside legal-aid measures intended to strengthen access to justice and support for children.

As digital usage continues to expand, awareness among parents, teachers and students is also an important part of online safety.

The final framework and its implementation guidelines will determine the specific protections, responsibilities and reporting mechanisms introduced across the state.
