Apple's foldable iPhone Ultra headlines September 2026 smartphone launches from Poco, Vivo, Redmi and others across India, China and global markets.

September 2026 is shaping up as a major month for smartphone releases, with Apple, Xiaomi's Poco brand, Vivo, Redmi, Infinix, and iQOO all preparing new handsets for consumers worldwide.

Apple is expected to debut its latest iPhone lineup on September 9, with retail availability beginning September 18. The company's new event will reportedly introduce the iPhone 18 Pro, iPhone 18 Pro Max, and an all-new iPhone Ultra model.

Both Pro models run the A20 Pro processor on TSMC's 2-nanometer process alongside Apple's C2 modem. Photographic enhancements focus on a variable-aperture main lens, a brighter zoom option, and a 24-megapixel front camera. The display shrinks Apple's Dynamic Island, though the horizontal rear camera placement persists. Pro Max batteries reach 5,500mAh depending on region. iOS 27 will launch in tandem with the new iPhones.

The iPhone Ultra marks a notable strategic shift. This model is expected to be Apple's first foldable smartphone, though detailed technical specifications have not yet surfaced.

Poco is planning a global launch event on September 1 for the F9 Pro and F9 Ultra. Both handsets employ Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor with configurations reaching 16GB of memory and 512GB of storage. The F9 Pro houses a 6.59-inch OLED display with up to 185Hz refresh and combines a 50-megapixel main camera, 8-megapixel ultrawide, and 50-megapixel 3x zoom lens. The F9 Ultra features a larger 6.85 to 6.9-inch AMOLED screen at the same refresh rate, with a 50-megapixel 5x periscope as its primary zoom. Battery specifications point to 6,330mAh and 8,050mAh capacities respectively, with 100W charging on both.

In India specifically, multiple brands have scheduled September announcements. Vivo's T5 5G launches on September 2 at noon IST with confirmed details. The device presents a 6.83-inch 1.5K curved AMOLED screen running at 144Hz, paired with MediaTek's Dimensity 7500 Turbo processor and a 7,050mAh battery contained in a 7.9mm frame. Memory options reach 12GB RAM and 256GB storage with 44W charging. The rear setup includes a 50-megapixel main sensor with optical stabilization, 8-megapixel ultrawide, and 32-megapixel front camera. The display achieves 3,000 nits of brightness.

Infinix has set September 4 at noon IST for the Hot 70 Pro 5G+, arriving through Flipkart. This model delivers a 6.76-inch 1080p+ display at 144Hz inside a 7.85mm body with an Interactive Active Matrix Cube rear design. Memory configurations span 6GB or 8GB paired with 128GB or 256GB storage. The battery sits between 5,600mAh and 6,000mAh with 45W charging and 10W reverse charging capability.

Redmi's next-generation Note series is heading to India on September 15. The Note 17 Pro carries a Snapdragon 6s Gen 4 chip, 6.83-inch 1.5K 120Hz AMOLED panel, and 9,000mAh battery with 67W charging. The Note 17 Pro Max steps up to a Snapdragon 6 Gen 5, maintains the 6.83-inch screen size, and packs a 10,000mAh battery with 100W charging.

Outside India, September launches continue in China. The iQOO 16 is slated for a September debut powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 Pro. Display size ranges from 6.85 to 6.89 inches with 2K LTPO AMOLED technology and refresh rates between 165Hz and 185Hz. Three 50-megapixel rear cameras appear on the back including a periscope zoom variant, with a 50-megapixel front camera. Battery capacity extends to 7,500mAh to 8,500mAh supporting charging above 100W.

Vivo is launching its X500 series in China during September, featuring Zeiss-calibrated optics across all variants. The X500, X500 Pro, and X500 Pro Max each include Zeiss-tuned cameras, while the Pro and Pro Max receive upgraded periscope zoom lenses with CIPA 7.0 stabilization, enhanced autofocus systems, and intelligent subject tracking. The X500 Pro Max brings a 200-megapixel Zeiss APO camera system. Vivo has indicated the X500 Ultra and X500e may join the lineup, though these models remain officially unconfirmed.
