India Complete 3–0 ODI Series Sweep Against Zimbabwe as Vaishnavi Sharma Takes Five Wickets

VADODARA, October 28, 2026: India's women's cricket team completed a 3–0 clean sweep against Zimbabwe after securing an eight-wicket victory in the third One Day International (ODI) at the BCA Stadium in Kotambi, Vadodara, on Wednesday.

India produced a dominant all-round performance, restricting Zimbabwe to 131 before reaching the target comfortably. The result completed a successful three-match series for the hosts, with Smriti Mandhana leading the side in her first ODI series as full-time captain, according to the International Cricket Council (ICC).

Vaishnavi Sharma delivers a career-best performance

Left-arm spinner Vaishnavi Sharma was the standout performer with the ball. She claimed her maiden five-wicket haul in the ODI format, finishing with figures of 5 wickets for 39 runs from 10 overs.

Zimbabwe struggled to build substantial partnerships against India's disciplined bowling attack. The visitors were eventually dismissed for 131 in 39.5 overs.

Modester Mupachikwa was Zimbabwe's leading scorer with 37 runs, while Josephine Nkomo also contributed to the innings.

Vaishnavi's performance helped India maintain control throughout the first innings and restricted Zimbabwe to a target that proved manageable for the home side.

Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma seal victory

India's chase was driven by an aggressive opening partnership between Pratika Rawal and Shafali Verma.

Rawal remained unbeaten on 59 from 56 deliveries, while Verma scored a rapid 51 from just 26 balls.

Their attacking approach reduced the pressure on the middle order and enabled India to reach the target of 132 with eight wickets remaining.

The performance demonstrated India's batting depth as well as the team's ability to convert a strong bowling display into a decisive result.

A strong series for India's women's team

The 3–0 result gave India a complete series sweep and highlighted the team's performance across both batting and bowling.

The victory also offered an encouraging start to Mandhana's tenure as full-time ODI captain. A successful series can provide players with confidence and give the team management opportunities to assess combinations and individual performances.

Vaishnavi's five-wicket haul was a particular highlight, while the opening batters' rapid scoring ensured that India did not allow Zimbabwe an opportunity to return to the contest.

What the result means

A clean sweep provides India with momentum as the team continues its international cricket schedule. The series also offered valuable match experience to players in a format where consistent performances across the full 50 overs are essential.

Zimbabwe, meanwhile, will look to review its batting performance and identify ways to build partnerships against quality spin bowling.

India's comprehensive victory in the third ODI brought the series to a close with the hosts winning all three matches.
