Professionals among those arrested The investigation has identified suspects from a wide range of professional and educational backgrounds. Reports based on TGCSB information say those arrested include an alleged agent employed by a financial company, a person involved in money exchange, an ex-serviceman, a businessman, a private-sector employee and other professionals. Investigators also identified alleged links involving employees and individuals with connections to multiple cybercrime cases. One person was reportedly linked to as many as 50 cybercrime cases, while another was linked to 34 cases. TGCSB said 50 of the 101 arrested individuals had more than five cybercrime links each across India, indicating the potentially wider reach of the networks under investigation. Mobile phones, SIM cards and financial records seized During the operation, investigators seized mobile phones, SIM cards, bank passbooks and cheque books allegedly connected with fraudulent transactions. TGCSB also said that accounts opened in the names of trusts and NGOs were allegedly misused to receive and transfer cybercrime proceeds. The investigation is continuing to identify additional links, interstate connections and possible international networks.
