The Chandraprabha Vahanam procession during the Navaratri Brahmotsavams of Lord Venkateswara at Tirumala was accompanied by devotional dance and music performances on Sunday evening. A total of 453 artists representing 17 cultural troupes from eight states participated in the event, offering their performances as a form of devotion to the deity.

Traditional art forms draw devotees’ attention

Artists from Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Madhya Pradesh, Mizoram, Meghalaya, Karnataka, Uttar Pradesh and Tripura took part in the cultural programme. Their performances featured Bharatanatyam, Sangrain, Wangala, Gopika and Deepa dances, along with Kolatam and other traditional art forms.

The programme brought together different regional traditions, highlighting the diversity of India's cultural heritage during one of Tirumala's major annual religious celebrations.

Devotional themes showcase India’s cultural heritage

The artists presented performances based on spiritual and mythological themes, including the divine episodes of Lord Krishna, the Ramayana, the glory of Ashtalakshmi, the divine splendour of Lord Srinivasa and the ceremonial wedding of Lord Krishna and Tulasi.

These presentations combined traditional dance, music and devotional storytelling, offering pilgrims an opportunity to experience a range of Indian cultural traditions.

Lord Malayappa Swamy, mounted on the Chandraprabha Vahanam, was the centre of the evening's procession. The performances by artists from different states added a cultural dimension to the celebrations and attracted the attention of devotees gathered for the occasion.
